SOPA bill withdrawn!: Author of the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, Lamar Smith, has withdrawn the bill in response to mass online protests against it. Whilst the web reacted favourably to the withdrawal, Smith is still concerned about finding a solution for piracy in order to “best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products”.
Online ad spending to surpass print for the first time in 2012: For the first time (in the US) online ad spending is to surpass ad spending in magazines and newspapers in 2012. According to a study by eMarketer, online ad spending saw a 23% increase from the previous year. Wonder how long it will take for this trend to reflect in SA!
