Spotlight On… Terence Da Silva, Search Manager: digiVOX!

Terence Da SilvaAs this week we are totally focused on our VOXTERS, we bring you Terence Da Silva, our Search Manager. This seemingly shaman-ish search star opened up about working for digiVOX, gave some great advice for investing in digital, and shared his love of AdWords. Read these and more, right here!

digiVOX: Who are you?

I am Terence Da Silva, a 28 year old who loves his daughter Luna very much. I also love AdWords Search, but calling Luna AdWords wouldn’t have suited her.

digiVOX: How are you?

As well as any human can be.

digiVOX: What is your job title and what does this entail?

Search Manager. This entails the research, planning, implementation and review of all AdWords Search Accounts. In short, making sure that the client receives the service expected of digiVOX, and that any accounts under my supervision perform to the best of their ability, meeting or surpassing any targets set.

digiVOX: What do you like about working at digiVOX?

Each team is highly focused and specialised. The various aspects of online marketing are each given its own special attention. This ensures a more effective result, as asking an AdWords Specialist to run Facebook Adverts is not the most ideal solution. Also, I can learn a lot from the various specialists at digiVOX.

digiVOX: What makes digiVOX different from other companies?

A very high standard when it comes to meeting goals.  digiVOX focuses mostly on the CPA metric, which means that the approach is heavily results driven. Most other online media companies only focus on traffic volume as a measure of success, and the click metric gives no indication of how well an account is doing in terms of return on investment. In short, digiVOX proves its worth in its work.

digiVOX: What excites you about this industry?

The various industries that get worked on means I get to learn something new every day. Each potential customer is a chance to learn about a new market demographic and their needs.

Also, I enjoy the challenge of creating a solution to drive those customers towards my clients, whilst competing with other agencies.

digiVOX: If you absolutely had to choose between having smelly breath or stinky feet, what would it be?

Stinky feet.

digiVOX: Complete the sentence:

My biggest talent is… my ability to deal with seemingly impossible situations.

My worst attribute is… my over-analysis of everything, whether socio-economic, or simply social situations.

I cannot live without … technology (and food)

digiVOX: What do you do for fun / to unwind?

I write poetry.

digiVOX: In your opinion, what is the one digital marketing campaign that stands out from the rest?

I don’t feel I have the necessary experience to answer that question, however, the one digital marketing company that is certainly making waves is SearchNetworx, as they probably have the largest share of the South African market SME business. They have also been in the online media area a lot of late.

digiVOX: Do you ever worry that a solar flare could short circuit every electronic entity in the world and make your line of work obsolete?

It’s plausible but unlikely. It does not concern me.

digiVOX: Any predictions for what’s next in the online world?

A greater focus on social media advertising. With Facebook users increasing every month, and most eager to share personal information, it is a marketer’s dream.

digiVOX: What would make you join a particular Facebook Page? Follow a Twitter account?

How relevant the information is to my line of work or life.

digiVOX: Which Facebook pages and/or Twitter accounts are your favourites?

I don’t have a twitter account, and my favourite Facebook app is Texas Holdem Poker.

digiVOX: Any advice for those considering investing in online marketing?

Don’t over-invest in your capital outlay. Ensure you have the necessary client base and retain all intellectual property unless the client is willing to buy it at a cost. Also, you will need to be creative to do this job. Problem solving skills are a must, and patience is key.

digiVOX: What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?

I abhor watching television.
